Michael Kindo is a former Indian field hockey player, from Jharkhand state in India. He represented India in 1972 Summer Olympics and won the bronze medal. He was a member of the team that won the World Cup in 1975. He played at full back position. He was awarded an Arjuna Award for his achievements.
Birendra Lakra is an Indian professional field hockey player. He represented India in Men's Hockey during the 2012 London Olympics. Lakra's elder brother Bimal has played as a midfielder for India. His sister Asunta Lakra has played for India's women's hockey team and has captained the side. He scored the first goal in India's stupendous victory in the final game of the Olympic Hockey Qualifying Tournament against France. He played a key role in taking India in to the semifinals of 2012 Champions trophy. India defeated Belgium with the help of a single goal that was produced by the magical pass given by Birendra Lakra to the forward. With this India entered the semifinals of champion’s trophy after eight long years.
Jaipal Singh Munda born in a Munda tribal family, was a politician, prolific writer and sportsman. He captained the Indian field hockey team to clinch gold in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. Under his captaincy the Indian team played 17 matches in the league stage, of which 16 were won and one drawn. After retirement from active hockey, he served as Secretary of Bengal Hockey Association and as a member of the Indian Sports Council.
Sumrai Tete is a member of the India women's national field hockey team. She played with the team when it won the Gold at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. In the year 2017, she was honoured with the prestigious Dhyan Chand Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for her achievements and contribution to Field hockey in India. She is the brand ambassador of Hockey in her state Jharkhand.
Aruna Mishra is an Indian woman boxer. Mishra won gold in the World Championship in Norway in 2004 and also in the 10th and 11th Senior National Championships. She belongs to Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Apart from Boxing, She is also a Police Inspector in Jharkhand Police.
Deepika Kumari has already made Ranchi and India proud both on National and International Level by her Archery Skills. She won a gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth games in the women’s individual recurve event. She was conferred the Arjuna Award, India’s second highest sporting award in the year 2012 by President of India Pranab Mukherjee. Also, The Government of India awarded her the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2016.
